Welcome to the Cathedral Place Caretaking Building Information! 

 

Here, you can find everything you need to know about our building, from general information to the amenities we offer.

Whether you're a prospective tenant, a current resident, or just interested in learning more about our community, our building information is the perfect resource for you.

1.

EXCESSIVE NOISE

Renovation Noise

If construction or renovation noise are disturbing you, please email support@cplace.com.au and we will attend to the issue as a priority during our office hours.

​

Concerns received about construction related noise disturbances occurring out of office hours, we ask that you send an email, and we will address as soon as we can.

​

General Noise 

No excessive noise is permitted at Cathedral Place at any time as per the By-Law, below;

​

Cathedral Place By-Laws Section 6 Noise

A) A Proprietor of a lot, their guests, servants or agents shall not make or permit any noise likely to interfere in any way with the peaceful enjoyment of other proprietors of lots or any person lawfully using the common property. In particular, no proprietor of a lot shall hold or permit to be held any social gathering in his lot which would cause any noise which unlawfully interferes with the peace and quietness of any other proprietor of a lot, at any time of day or night and in particular shall comply in all respects with the Noise Abatement Act 1979, as amended.

B) In the event of any unavoidable noise in a lot at any time the proprietors thereof shall take all practical means to minimize annoyance to other proprietors of lots by closing all doors, windows and curtains of his lot and such further steps as may be within his power for the same purpose and shall cease the activity creating a noise or nuisance upon the request of the Body Corporate through its representative.

C) Guests leaving after 11.00pm shall be requested by their hosts to leave quietly. Quietness also shall be observed when a proprietor of a lot returns to the dwelling late at night or early morning hours. 

Caretaking staff and security guards are on duty 24/7 within the complex.  Should they hear any noise or receive any complaints, in regards to noise, they will attend and request you to cease the noise immediately.  Failure to comply will result in Queensland Police Services being called, and breach notices issued by the body corporate.

PLEASE NOTE: 

In the event you wish to make a noise complaint after hours, please contact the Fortitude Valley Police Station to lodge a complaint on

(07) 3737 5757. 

​

You will need to speak to an officer at the Fortitude Valley Police Station and NOT PoliceLink.

​

Officers at the Fortitude Valley Police Station has 24 hours access to Cathedral Place

2.

Electricity 

If you lose electricity to your unit, please see the below steps:

 

  • Have you paid your bills?

  • Have you plugged a new appliance, or an existing appliance tripped your safety switch?

    1. If yes, unplug the appliance and all appliances, including the dishwasher, washing machine, dryer etc.

    2. Go to your switch board within your unit – this could be in the:

      • Kitchen overhead cupboard

      • Linen cupboard

      • Laundry overhead cupboard

      • Wardrobe in the bedroom (s)

  • Check that the safety switch has turned off; if yes

  • Reset the safety switch – now electricity will be back on

 

  • If the safety switch does not allow you to switch it back on, there is still an appliance plugged in and in use somewhere that may be causing the safety switch to trip the electricity.

  • If for any reason you try the above steps and the electricity does not come back on, please refer to your General Tenancy Agreement for your Managing Agents preferred Electrician for emergencies only.

3.

WATER LEAKS & PLUMBING

Hot Water

Please follow the below steps to access your hot water isolation valve.

If you can not get into the service cupboard, please contact (07) 3262 8338. For any after hours requests, please use the same extension as the lock out service and advise that it is a hot water issue. A mobile patrol will attend. 

​

​

Residents from D Block, E Block, G Block or H Block are unable to access hot water isolation valves independently and must contact (07) 3062 8338 to arrange access to the isolation valve.

​

A Block Units

  1. Locate the hot water service cupboard. This is located outside of our unit in the hallway (see photo).

  2. Open the cupboard

  3. Locate the lever for your unit.

  4. Pull the locking ring out and whilst holding the locking ring out turn the shutoff valve clockwise until it closes off.

​​

Your hot water should now be off.

​

B Block & C Block Units

  1. Locate the fire cupboard near your unit in the hallway outside your door.  (See Image).

  2. Open the cupboard

  3. Locate the lever for your unit.

  4. Pull the locking ring out and whilst holding the locking ring out turn the shutoff valve clockwise until it closes off.

Cold Water

To turn the cold water off - Locate the hatch (a square panel 300x300mm) within your unit; this may be in any of the below locations:

​

  • Ceiling in your bathroom.

  • Ceiling or wall in your laundry or linen cupboard.

  • Wall in the kitchen

​

  1. Undo the hatch and remove the flat panel piece.

  2. With a torch locate the cold-water tap, which could be a conventional tap or a quarter turn lever and turn it off accordingly.

​​

If for any reason you try the above steps and you are unable to turn off your water, you will need to contact a plumber to assist you or check your General Tenancy Agreement for your Managing Agents preferred Plumber, for emergencies only.

4.

INTERCOMS

Intercoms are in use at Cathedral Place, to use the intercom system, follow the below instructions;

  • A Block - 1     To call A157 push 1157 🔔

  • B Block - 2     To call B056 push 2056 🔔

  • C Block - 3     To call C023 push 3023 🔔

  • D Block - 4     To call D057 push 4057 🔔

  • E Block - 5     To call E086 push 5086 🔔

  • F Block - 6     To call F014 push 6014 🔔

  • G Block - 7     To call G032 push 7032 🔔

  • H Block - 8     To call H087 push 8087 🔔

  • Rental Office   To call push 1000 🔔

5.

CAR PARKING

Visitor’s car parking is available onsite, it is the left-hand side driveway when looking at Cathedral Place at 41 Gotha Street, Fortitude Valley.

​

The first 20 minutes are free, and you will then have to pay for your parking, prices vary on the length of your stay.

6.

REFUSE

All rubbish must be in enclosed bags and must not be larger than the notice on the refuse chute. 

​

Refuse Chute is strictly for everyday household waste only.

​

Items prohibited in refuse chute:

industrial waste, renovation waste, chemical waste, liquid, glass, electronics/electrics, boxes/cardboard, coat hangers and loose rubbish.

These items are strictly prohibited in refuse chutes.

​

Recyclable Items:

Recyclable items such as glass bottles, cardboards, containers and newspapers can be disposed of in the bins with Yellow Lids.  Please check the side of these bins for a full list of recyclable items.

7.

BODY CORPORATE STRUCTURE

Each Building within the a separate Body Corporate.  There are 7 separate Body Corporates for the complex.

  • A Block - Notre Dame

  • B & C Blocks - Oxford & Cambridge

  • D & E Blocks - Cantebury & Westminster

  • F Block - Duhig

  • G & H Blocks - Kensington & Sandringham

  • Community Body Corporate (CBC)

  • CVBC Cathedral Village Body Corporate (shops)

8.

BICYCLES 

No Bicycles are permitted inside the complex or individual buildings.  They must be placed in the allocated bicycle racks in Basement Two (2).
